April 5th 1998 Until now, the closest golf ever came to our annual PCT was when a VW attempted the hills. But here is some shocking news... Our trusty hill is being turned into a golf course! So, for the first time ever, we Southerners are going to venture north of the River Thames and even north of Watford. It's time to pack your oxygen masks and phrase books, because we're off to Kensworth, at junction 9 on the M1. The Kensworth site has been used for PCTs before and has a good selection of smooth grass hills with a steep wooded bank to one end to give a bit of variety. It is just off the B4540, at map ref (166) 021¼ 184¼ . The event has signing on and scrutineering at 8:30 and starts at 10:00. There will be at least 8 tests and it is hoped that competitors will get at least 4 runs at each hill. It will be a dual purpose event, with a National B BTRDA round (entry £17.50) and a clubman round (£12.50) Participation ChallengeTo enter the event, write to Judith Weeks at 9 Manor Walk, Weybridge, Surrey, LT13 8SD, phone her on 01932 828295 or e-mail to trial@coxhill-group.demon.co.uk.
Lots of marshals are needed for eight hills. This is a good event to start marshalling on, as there are lots of other people nearby to ask for advice. Call Brian Hugh on 0181 462 4004 or write to him at Weggis, 75 Bourne Vale, Hayes, Bromley, Kent BR2 7NW. If you would like to help with equipment, call Neil Boxall on 0181 656 9029 or write to him at 12 Abbots Green, Addington, Croydon CR0 5BH. |
