New Championship For Southern Members

It has been decided to introduce a new category to the Southern Car Club Championship. This category is for the unsung heroes of motorsport, the Service Crew.

Let's be fair none of us would be out there having fun if we did not have the support of our service crews who put in a lot of effort to prepare cars and look after them on events. I know that when Joe White and I were competing we would never have enjoyed it as much without our service crew, Sue and Paul Smith and Ian Harden.

The championship is very simple. All we are asking is that you drivers let me know who your service crew were on each event. They will then be awarded one point per event. The only other rules are that they must be a member of Southern Car Club, marshal on at least one southern event and write one article for Windscreen.

As these rules are so simple it has been decided that claims can be backdated to the start of the championship year. Please ensure that all claims up to and including 30th May are made by 30th June as after that the usual one month rule will apply.

We already have an award ready to be presented at the dinner dance for this category, but you will have to wait and see what it is! This award has been kindly donated by another stalwart of Southern Car Club, Mr Brian Hugh.
