ACSMC Grass Autotest ChampionshipMid-Season Bulletin, July 2000 |

This bulletin comes to you at the halfway point in this year's series. To date, more than 30 drivers from 9 clubs have scored points for themselves and their club, which you do automatically by entering any of the rounds at Nat 'B' level. In the inter-club section of the championship, the highest scorers are currently Farnborough DMC, Middlesex County AC, Bognor Regis MC and Hart MC, in that order, but with 3 of the 6 rounds still to go, the outcome is still wide open, as it is for the individual and class positions. In the small FWD saloons, this year's entries include several father and son teams, such as Colin and Michael Weeks, and Maurice and Simon May, with their respective 1300 Minis, and Peter Cox and sons Simon and Richard, using a 106 and a 1000 Mini. Does the younger generation beat the dads? It's about 50/50 so far...others scoring in this class include the Minis of Rob Rolston and Steve Redsell. In the larger FWD saloons, points have been scored at two or more rounds by Grant Shoebridge and Richard Field, with their 205's, Ray Merritt's Audi, and Kevin Lawrence's Golf. Jim Pullar, Julian Birch and former champion David Martin have also scored on single outings (so far), and, just to confirm that you don't need any special preparation, at least one other driver has used a car hired for the event! The RWD saloon seems to be something of an endangered species. Four drivers have made appearances, but this class could use more entries, while among the sports cars and specials, Martin Neal's Midget is the most regular scorer at the moment. In one way or another, every round this year includes a Nat B and a Clubsport or PCA event, and with the new common scoring system, the results are directly comparable. This is proving that plenty of the Clubsport/PCA entries would be well on the pace, if they entered in Nat B, and the scores of several clubs would benefit - it's not too late to switch, and the MSA Clubman's licence costs a mere £10..... The remaining rounds are run by Dolphin MC on July 23rd (contact Ian Harrison, on 01635 872946), Farnborough DMC on August 6th (Tim Walton, on 01252 677849), and Bognor Regis MC on August 28th (Kevin Lawrence, on 01243 573521) For the full scores, positions, and some pictures, the ACSMC Website is only a mouse click away, at www.ukmotorsport.com/acsmc!
