Southern going great guns in Rally 2000

The recently published points tables for the ACSMC Tarmac Stage & Forestry Stage Rally Championship show Southern drivers & co-drivers to the fore.

In the drivers Tarmac Championship, Vanessa Steel leads Class A (and is currently 2nd overall); John Cavendish is 3rd in Class B; Mark Stoker tops Class D and leads overall. While in the co-drivers section, John Blaber (isn't he a driver - Ed?) is 3rd in Class A and Susan Duell 3rd in Class B.

Over to the Forestry Series now, where Dick Slaughter heads James Potter in the combined Classes C & D; John Harding is the joint leader of Class E - both of these in the drivers categories. While Dick's long time man on the maps Geoff Dearing leads the co-driver series overall.

We all know that the season has a long way to go - but SCC crews don't forget that to win an ACSMC pot at the year end you have to act as an official on an ACSMC event (of any discipline!). Good Luck.

It's all charity folks

Over the last six months or so, Southern Car Club & friends have been doing their bit for various charitable causes. Leukaemia Research Fund benefited to the tune of over £750 after Rallye Sunseeker; the Children's Trust at Tadworth now have an additional £2500 in their coffers from our excellent Dinner Dance and Gosden House School received a much needed £100 or so as proceeds from last years Grass Autotest. Well done to all involved.

New PCT Supremo praised

The ACMSC PCT Competition Secretary singled out Michael Weeks and the recent SCC PCT at Dorking for special praise in his quarterly report recently. He commented "probably the most interesting layout of hills I have ever seen at that venue ... a great event ... worthy of inclusion in the national championship". Great accolades indeed, its nice to see a new organiser making a name for himself - great stuff Michael and your team.

Magazine Editor Commended

The Association of Central Southern Motor Clubs have been running a 'best magazine' competition over the last few months.

When the results were announced at a recent ACSMC Council meeting, your very own editor Chris Morford received a 'highly commended' accolade. He was only beaten to the first prize of 2 tickets to the Festival of Speed (whose a lucky boy then!) by Hart Motor Club's offering.
